Well balanced and heavy, HEAVY, base - which is nice. On/off in line cord switch is not very convenient and would be better served if located on base maybe. Not too bad though.

(More customer reviews)I bought these lamps several months ago.For the price, I was half-expecting three wobbly lamps.So I was quite pleased to receive, instead, a set of sturdy, stylish lamps.They are made in China, so while I can't comment on the material content, I can report that the lamps were carefully wrapped and meticulously packaged--there was not so much as a wrinkle on a lamp shade, and the lamps themselves were in perfect condition.As I am not particularly good at DIY projects, I was happy that the lamps were already prewired, with all of the parts in place.It only required screwing the linked pieces together, a task that even I could handle easily.

Each lamp uses two light bulbs of up to 100 watts each, giving plenty of light for reading.They don't take three-way bulbs, but the dual pull chains give you an option for how much light you use.They also accomodate the spiral, "greener" light bulbs without browning the shades.As I have said, these lamps are sturdy, and the bronze finish is attractive and glossy.

After three months of daily use, these lamps look as good as the day I unpacked them.The only "flaw" that I have found is that one of my cats thinks the pull chains are cat toys, and so occasionally he manages to turn on a lamp in the middle of the night.And I don't suppose I can really blame that on the manufacturer or amazon.com!

The bottom line is, this is an attractive and sturdy set of lamps, and an excellent value.I highly recommend them.

(More customer reviews)Nice materials and it looks as good as the photo. It was easy to put together, but imo, you really need two people do this given the size and shape. We've had the lamp for several months and so far everything has be working great including the dimmer. It fits perfectly behind our corner sectonal sofa and we love the way it looks. Everyone that's seen it has been very impressed with the design and quality. I would recommend this lamp to anyone.

(More customer reviews)The lamp, or parts thereof, came in a smashed, duct taped box.The lamp was not packed properly and as such, was demolished.Though I received a full refund, it was my responsibility to box it all up and send it back - which was not easy given the fact that the lamp was nearly 6 ft tall.Needless to say, it was not a good experience.

(More customer reviews)I love this lamp and it's medico-industrial vibe--it's strikingly sculptural and totally practical at the same time.The picture here doesn't quite do it justice; it's about six feet tall, and the opening of the shade is about the size of a basketball hoop.

The only problem is that it's fitted with a really crappy socket:I've ordered and assembled two of them, and both times, the threaded-metal insidey part of the socket has broken off the first time I screwed in a bulb.On this lamp, the metal doohickey in question is made from aluminum, not brass, and it's about as thick as a beer can.I've returned both, but ordered another; if next one is similarly flawed, I'll replace the socket at my own expense.That's how great this lamp is.
